A Taste of BC’s Best Kept Secret: Sun Peaks Resort!

Last year I embraced the Powder Highway, and this year I started the winter season in the best possible way at BC’s best kept secret… Sun Peaks Resort!

After spending a couple of days in Vancouver for work, I opted to take a road trip out to Kamloops instead of flying. BC is STUNNING and driving it is really one of the best ways to see it.

Shortly after arriving and checking into my cozy condo at Kookaburra lodge, I couldn’t help but realize I was in winter wonderland. It was literally dumping snow all day and all night, and I was itching to get out on the mountain and embrace this powder heaven.

Due to it’s geographic location on the west side of the rockies, it has a light dry snow and they receive over 2000 hours of sunshine. After meeting their Social Media gal Brandi and riding all three mountains with her, I couldn’t help but sit there on the chairlift and say, ‘we have the best job ever’.

We put our heads together and decided it would be awesome to team up to give away a trip to Sun Peaks so other people could experience these amazing mountains. We both took turns riding with the GoPro and I edited this fun little video announcing the contest. If you live in Canada, be sure to head over to  Sun Peaks website for your chance to win a ski vacation for two!

Although Sun Peaks is known to be a family-friendly resort, there’s certainly no shortage of night life. I experienced my very first silent disco party and had the most fun that night than I’ve had in quite a long time.

Upon arrival at their infamous bar ‘Bottoms’ I was handed head phones with two channel options. There was a DJ at each end of the bar and you could listen, dance, or sing to whichever one you wanted. I’m not gonna lie, I had trouble at some points deciding which channel to stay on since both DJ’s were killing it that night.

If you head out to experience some of BC’s mountains this winter, be sure to put Sun Peaks on your list!

The people, the powder and the party, have made this experience one I will never forget.

A big thank-you to Bear Country Lodging, Sun Peaks Resort and Mountain Man Adventures for hosting myself and the global Social Media team at Flight Centre.
