The word Diwali has its origin in the Sanskrit word “Deepavali” which means “rows of light or rows of lighted lamps”. It’s also a 5-day Hindu festival celebrated throughout the world signifying the victory of good against evil. Essentially it’s the equivalent of Christmas — a big, festive celebration that brings families together and is the highlight of the holiday season. Each day of the festivities is marked with different pujas (prayers) and rituals. Today, I’m sending a prayer to all the wonderful people I’ve met in India. Thank-you for all your warmth and kindness. Namaste!
