After staying in lodges, hotels, and travelling to various cities during my time in South Africa, I was pleased to spend a night at an apartment in Cape Town where I could cook my own meals, do some laundry and sit down and get some writing done.
I stayed at the Lawhill Luxury Apartments located on the V&A Waterfront and was in awe the moment I walked in.
Since my apartment was a stunning two bedroom with a balcony, I decided to put the space to use by inviting an old friend JP from University to come over and catch up over a bottle of wine I recently picked up at Creation Wines. JP and I went to Ryerson University and also played soccer together, but after graduation, he moved back home to Cape Town and I haven’t seen him in years. So I was thrilled to be able to catch up with him during my time here.
Most of my friends know that I absolutely love to host dinners and parties (perhaps it’s the Italian in me?), so I went around the corner to the local market and grabbed some fresh cheese, fruits, and other munchies and was ready to host a guest in no-time. Having access to all the shopping at the V&A Waterfront right outside my door was incredibly convenient too. After showing him around the space, we sat down sipping on chardonnay, and catching up while my Taranga playlist created a groovy ambience in the background. It was at that moment I really felt like a local.
After saying our farewells, I loaded up the dishwasher and headed to bed. The only problem was, I had a hard time getting out of it the next day. I mean would you want to leave this incredibly comfortable bed?
If you’re ever in Cape Town and looking for a place to enjoy the comforts of home but still be in the heart of the action, I highly recommend a stay at Lawhill. But be warned, you may never want to leave…
