Do you ever have one of those ‘holy shit this is one of the most amazing days of my life’ moment? Yeah, well this right here is THAT moment. Allow me to give you some background:
Back in 2009 and 2010, I lived in Australia on a working holiday visa. Five years later, I found myself in Brisbane for a work conference, and decided to pop down to Sydney to visit old friends again. Upon catching up with my friend Christian, I quickly learned that he’s really gotten into the world of Skydiving and has completed over 800 jumps around the world. He casually mentioned he was going the very next morning and that I should join him and his friend.
Next thing I knew, it was 6:30am and I was en route to Sydney Skydivers, located about an hour outside of Sydney in Picton. The best part? It was all captured on GoPro:
I still can’t believe how amazing this day turned out, I sometimes have to re-watch the video because the experience was so surreal. This was hands down one of the most memorable experiences of my life and I’m so glad I have it all captured on film.
When we first arrived, the sky was a bit grey and cloudy so most of the morning was spent filling out paperwork, and then waiting around for the skies to clear. During that time however I met an amazing community of people who skydive on a regular basis and we’re getting ready to head up for their two or three jumps for the day. While some people spend their Saturdays at the beach, or shopping, these adventurous people are up at the crack of dawn to prep for a day of jumping out of planes. And it’s pretty damn awesome. If you’ve never had an opportunity to skydive yet, or are thinking about trying it, here’s a great video put together by my friend Christian which explains it perfectly:
